Figurative Paintings

The goal of each portrait is to capture those individual expressions and moods that bring the subject's inner self to the surface.

Mooney’s technique is that of the old masters, yet the paintings have a modern feel with contemporary settings, ambiance and boldness. His portraits play with light and dark as well as hard and soft edges to recreate the three-dimensional image on canvas. Mooney’s brings out the uniqueness of each subject, seeking to capture both their soul and personality.
